About This Qualification
This qualification provides competencies in the ability to select, set up and install, test, fault-find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and industrial environments, including oil/gas installations, mine sites, processing plants and the like. The qualification covers the Essential Performance Capabilities as required by electrical regulators and includes a capstone assessment.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

When will this qualification be available for RPL?
We are currently auditing Registered Training Organisations to ensure they have the specialised facilities and qualified assessors required for this industrial electrical trade.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering ensures you are prioritised for a free skills review once the assessment pathway is live. It also helps us gauge demand to expedite RTO partnership agreements.
Is RPL the same as completing a standard apprenticeship?
Recognition of Prior Learning assesses your existing expertise against the same national standards as an apprenticeship, resulting in the same nationally recognised qualification.
Will I need to complete a capstone assessment?
Yes. As this is a licensed trade qualification, a formal capstone assessment is a mandatory requirement to demonstrate your Essential Performance Capabilities to the assessor.
What happens if the assessor identifies gaps in my evidence?
If your evidence doesn't fully cover specific units, the RTO will provide targeted gap training. This builds on your existing knowledge rather than requiring you to start from scratch.
Does this qualification guarantee me an Electrician's Licence?
The qualification is a critical prerequisite for licensing, but you must still meet the specific fit-and-proper and experience requirements set by your state's electrical regulator.
