Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL It?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to offer the Certificate III in Dairy Production. While not immediately available for enrolment, you can register your interest to be notified the moment the pathway opens.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest ensures you are at the front of the queue when we finalise our RTO partnerships. It allows us to keep you informed about the specific evidence requirements and any updates to the assessment process for the dairy industry.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and carries the same national weight as one earned through classroom study. The difference lies in how you demonstrate your competency—through evidence of your existing work rather than new learning.
What kind of dairy experience counts toward this qualification?
Experience in milking operations, livestock health monitoring, feeding, calving, and the maintenance of dairy equipment is highly relevant. Your work must align with the national standards for dairy production, demonstrating that you can perform these tasks with limited supervision.
Do I need to be currently working on a dairy farm?
While current employment is beneficial for providing recent evidence, the assessment focuses on your overall competency. If you have significant recent experience in dairy production, you can use that work history as evidence, provided it meets the current industry standards.
What happens if I have experience in some areas but not others?
The RPL process identifies your strengths and any potential gaps in your evidence. If the RTO's assessor identifies a unit where your experience doesn't fully meet the standard, gap training can be provided to help you achieve the full qualification.
