About This Qualification
This is a qualification for those engaged in entry-level water industry operations under appropriate supervision. They would undertake mainly routine tasks covering roles in networks, irrigation, water sources and the treatment of water.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Not yet. We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in the water industry to offer this qualification through RPL.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through classroom study. It is nationally recognised and meets the same Australian Qualifications Framework standards.
What if I work in rural irrigation rather than urban networks?
The Certificate II in Water Industry Operations includes electives specifically for rural irrigation and domestic delivery systems, allowing your specific expertise to be recognised regardless of your sector.
Do I need to demonstrate water sampling skills?
Sampling and testing are common components of this qualification. If you have experience collecting water samples and following testing protocols, this will form a strong part of your evidence portfolio.
How much work experience do I need?
While there is no set timeframe, most candidates for a Certificate II level have at least 1-2 years of experience in entry-level water industry roles to provide sufficient evidence across all required units.
