Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL It?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) who can assess this specific qualification. While not yet available for immediate enrolment, registering your interest ensures you will be the first to know once a pathway is secured.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge demand and accelerate our partnership process with RTOs. It also ensures that we can provide you with tailored guidance on gathering your evidence while the formal pathway is being finalised.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through classroom study. It is nationally recognised and meets the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) standards, as it assesses the same competencies.
Will I need to provide photos of my artwork as evidence?
Yes, visual evidence is a crucial part of the RPL process for creative arts. This may include high-quality photographs of finished pieces, videos of you practising your craft, or scans of your design sketches and journals.
How is cultural identity and heritage assessed through RPL?
The RPL process respects that your cultural identity is personal. Assessment focuses on how you apply your understanding of identity and culture to your arts practice and how you work within an Indigenous cultural framework as required by the units.
Can I use experience from different mediums like textiles and woodworking?
Absolutely. This qualification allows for a range of elective specialisations. Your evidence can reflect your experience across various mediums including textiles, painting, wood, or digital arts, provided they align with the chosen units of competency.
