About This Qualification
This is a preparatory qualification which allows individuals to develop basic functional knowledge and skills to prepare for work in the sport and recreation industry. The range of technical knowledge and skills is limited.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for this specific qualification. While not yet available for immediate enrolment, registering your interest ensures you will be the first to know when the pathway opens.
Why should I register my interest?
By registering, you help us gauge demand for this qualification, which can accelerate the partnership process. You will receive an update as soon as an RTO is ready to accept evidence portfolios for the Certificate I in Sport and Recreation.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and holds the same national weight as one earned through a classroom. The assessment standards remain the same; only the method of demonstrating competency differs.
Will this qualification get me a job in the fitness industry?
The Certificate I is a preparatory qualification designed to build work readiness. While it demonstrates your commitment and basic knowledge, most professional roles in the industry require a Certificate III or higher for full employment.
What happens if I have gaps in my experience for this level?
If the assessor identifies areas where your evidence is insufficient, the RTO will provide targeted gap training. This ensures you can meet the requirements of the four core units without needing to repeat the areas where you are already competent.
