Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL It?
Not yet. We are currently in the stage of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts. This ensures the assessment process is culturally appropriate and rigorous.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest helps us understand the demand for this qualification. It also ensures you are the first to know when a suitable RTO partner is secured and the RPL process becomes available for your experience.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is nationally recognised and carries the same weight as one earned through traditional study. It simply acknowledges that you have already developed the competency through practical experience.
How do I demonstrate my cultural identity for an RPL assessment?
Evidence for the unit regarding identity is handled with deep respect. This may include documentation of your connection to Country, participation in community events, or letters of recognition from Elders and community leaders who can verify your cultural engagement.
Do I need to provide physical copies of my artwork?
Generally, high-quality photographs or video recordings of your creative work and drawing techniques are sufficient for your evidence portfolio. Your consultant will guide you on how to best document your physical pieces for the assessor.
