The qualification
About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of individuals, including mine managers or mining engineering managers, who perform complex, non-routine tasks involving strategic and planning activities for underground coal mines. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining operational systems and plans, including safety and health, environmental and management systems, providing leadership and mentoring to others, and understanding and managing requirements for mine sites.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is RPL the same as completing a mining course?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment-only pathway that recognises the skills you have already developed through years of on-the-job experience. It avoids the need for repetitive study by allowing you to demonstrate your existing competence against national standards.
What level of experience is required for this Advanced Diploma?
As a Level 6 qualification, the assessor will look for evidence of strategic leadership and management of complex, non-routine tasks. This typically involves experience in developing and maintaining mine-wide systems for safety, ventilation, and infrastructure.
Will I need to complete any training?
If the RTO's assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence does not fully meet the qualification requirements, gap training may be provided. This is targeted learning designed to build on your existing expertise rather than starting from scratch.
