About This Qualification
You have spent years mastering the complexities of ballistic evidence and crime scene reconstruction within the police force. We are currently establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations to offer a formal recognition pathway for this highly specialised expertise.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in the POL training package. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when the assessment pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also ensures you receive early guidance on the types of evidence you may need to compile for your portfolio.
Is RPL the same as studying for the Graduate Certificate?
Yes. Recognition of Prior Learning assesses your existing expertise against the same national standards as the formal course. If you demonstrate competency, you receive the same nationally recognised qualification.
What kind of experience is required for this level?
As a Graduate Certificate, this pathway is designed for experienced police investigators who have developed advanced technical skills in firearm examination and ballistic analysis over several years.
Will my court testimony count as evidence?
Absolutely. Expert witness statements and records of court testimony are excellent forms of evidence, as they demonstrate your ability to communicate complex technical findings within a legal framework.
