Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this Diploma be available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that hold this qualification on their scope. By registering your interest, you will receive an immediate update once the assessment pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also ensures you are prioritised for a free initial skills review as soon as the qualification is available for RPL.
Is RPL the same as completing a police academy course?
RPL is an assessment-only pathway that recognises the skills you have already developed on the job. While a course teaches you new material, RPL helps you demonstrate that your existing experience already meets the national standard for the qualification.
How do I provide evidence if my work is classified or sensitive?
When the process begins, your consultant will guide you on how to provide 'sanitised' evidence. This involves removing sensitive names or specific operational details while still demonstrating the complexity and methodology of your intelligence work.
Who conducts the final assessment?
Your evidence portfolio will be evaluated by a qualified assessor from one of our partner RTOs. They are the ones who make the formal determination of competency and issue the nationally recognised qualification.
What if my experience is from a non-police intelligence role?
This specific qualification is part of the Police Training Package. While related experience is valuable, the assessment typically requires evidence of applying intelligence practices within a law enforcement or policing context.
