Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

What Kind of Experience Counts?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available via RPL?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) who can deliver this specific qualification. While not yet available for immediate enrolment, registering your interest ensures you are notified the moment the pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest helps us gauge demand and prioritise which RTO partnerships we finalise first. It also ensures you receive the most up-to-date information regarding evidence requirements and assessment timelines as they are established.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment-only pathway that recognises the skills you have already acquired through work experience. It is not a course where you are taught new material; rather, it is a process of proving you already meet the national standards.
What kind of evidence will I eventually need?
As a Certificate IV level qualification, the focus will be on your ability to monitor technical functions and lead others. Evidence typically includes sterilisation logs, equipment validation reports, staff supervision records, and documentation of quality control processes.
How does the assessment process work?
Once a partnership is established, your evidence will be reviewed by a qualified assessor from the delivering RTO. They may contact you for a competency conversation or request a practical demonstration to verify your expertise against the qualification units.
What happens if I have gaps in my experience?
If the RTO assessor identifies areas where your evidence does not fully meet the standard, gap training will be provided. This targeted learning allows you to address specific units without needing to repeat the areas where you are already competent.
