Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is the Certificate IV in Mental Health currently available for RPL?
We are currently in the process of securing Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partnerships for this specific qualification. Registering your interest ensures you are notified as soon as the formal recognition pathway is established.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge demand and prioritize which RTO partnerships we finalize first. It also ensures you are positioned at the front of the queue for a free skills review once the pathway opens.
Is the RPL process the same as completing a course?
No. While the qualification awarded is identical and nationally recognised, RPL focuses on assessing the competency you have already gained through your career rather than teaching you new material.
How does my previous work experience count towards the 80-hour requirement?
The RTO's assessor will review your employment records and position descriptions to determine if your past work hours meet the specific placement criteria required by the national training package.
What if my evidence contains sensitive client information?
We guide you on how to de-identify documents or use third-party testimonials to ensure your evidence meets assessment standards while maintaining strict client confidentiality and privacy.
