Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is RPL for the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health currently available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that offer this specific qualification. While not yet open for enrolment, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway becomes available.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to gauge demand and prioritise which RTO partnerships we finalise first. It also ensures we can provide you with the most up-to-date information regarding evidence requirements and assessment timeframes as soon as they are confirmed.
Is Recognition of Prior Learning the same as a short course?
No. RPL is an assessment-only pathway that recognises the skills you have already developed through your work. Instead of learning new material, you are providing evidence that you already meet the national standards for the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.
How do I prove my experience in leisure and health?
Evidence typically includes activity plans you have designed, logs of programs you have facilitated, and feedback from supervisors or clients. Your consultant will guide you on how to compile these into a portfolio that speaks the language of formal assessment.
Can my experience in aged care count toward this qualification?
Yes, if your role involved designing or implementing lifestyle and leisure programs for residents. The assessment process looks at how your specific experience aligns with units such as lifespan development and leisure programming.
What if there are gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO's assessor identifies areas where your evidence doesn't fully meet the requirements, they will provide targeted gap training. This allows you to build on your existing foundation rather than starting the entire qualification from scratch.
What does registering my interest mean?
Registering your interest means you'd like to be notified when this qualification becomes available through RPL. There's no commitment — we'll contact you when an RTO partnership is confirmed for this qualification.
Why isn't this qualification available yet?
RPL It works with partner RTOs to deliver qualifications. We're currently exploring RTO partnerships for this qualification. Registering your interest helps us prioritise which qualifications to focus on next.
What happens after I register my interest?
You'll receive a confirmation, and we'll keep your details on file. When a partner RTO is confirmed for this qualification, we'll contact you with next steps — including how to start your free skills review.
Can I still do a free skills review for this qualification?
