This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies in explosive ordnance operations. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in Defence Training Package qualifications. We anticipate these pathways will be ready for assessment soon.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to notify you the moment a suitable RTO partner is secured. It also helps us understand the demand for this specific qualification, which can accelerate the development of the recognition pathway.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment-only pathway. It is designed for those who already have the skills and knowledge, whereas a course is designed to teach you those skills. Both result in the same nationally recognised qualification.
Can my military service be used as evidence?
Absolutely. Your service records, training history, and operational experience are the primary sources of evidence used to demonstrate your competency against the national standards of this qualification.
What happens if I have experience but no paperwork?
Documentation is key to the RPL process, but it isn't the only form of evidence. A qualified assessor may use competency conversations or practical demonstrations to verify the skills you have developed on the job.
How long does the assessment process take?
Once a pathway is available, the timeframe depends on how quickly you can compile your evidence portfolio. After submission, the RTO's assessor typically completes their review within a few weeks.
