Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?
We are currently in the exploratory phase, identifying and vetting Registered Training Organisations that meet our standards for quality and integrity in court operations assessment.
Why should I register my interest?
By registering, you ensure you are among the first to be notified as soon as a compliant assessment pathway is opened, allowing you to begin the recognition process without delay.
Is RPL the same as regular study?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning assesses the expertise you have already gained through years of workplace experience against national standards, rather than requiring you to repeat training for skills you already possess.
How do specialisations work for this qualification?
The Certificate IV can be tailored to focus on either Services or Compliance specialisations, depending on whether your experience lies in court support or the execution of court directions.
What if I lack evidence for specific units?
If an assessor identifies areas where your evidence does not fully meet the requirements, the RTO will provide targeted gap training to help you reach competency at no additional cost.
Can I use evidence from different court jurisdictions?
Yes, provided the evidence demonstrates your ability to meet the national competency standards defined in the PSP Public Sector Training Package.
