Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?
We are currently in the process of vetting Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partners to ensure they meet our high standards for recognition. By registering your interest, you will be notified the moment a compliant and respectful pathway is established.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering ensures you receive early access to the skills review process once a partner RTO is onboarded. It also helps us demonstrate the demand for this qualification, which can speed up the development of the RPL pathway.
Is RPL for dispatch different from traditional study?
Yes. RPL assesses the skills you have already mastered through years of experience in ambulance communications. Rather than attending classes to learn what you already know, you provide evidence of your existing competence to a qualified assessor.
What kind of experience is needed for this Cert IV?
This process is designed for those with significant experience in emergency call-taking or ambulance dispatch. You should be comfortable demonstrating your ability to coordinate resources, use radio networks, and operate CAD systems independently.
Will I need to demonstrate my CAD system skills?
Yes, as part of the formal assessment by the RTO, you may be asked to show how you operate radio networks and computer-aided dispatch systems to manage real-time ambulance resources.
How does the RTO assess my ability to handle stress?
The assessor will look for evidence of how you manage personal stressors and maintain performance in complex emergency situations, often through incident logs, supervisor reports, or professional development records.
