The qualification
About This Qualification
This qualification applies to employees of Civil Aviation Maintenance Organisations (AMOs) or to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) who are engaged in the repair and modification of aircraft structures. The qualification is suitable for delivery as an apprenticeship and may apply to work performed in hangars on the structure of complete aircraft and to work performed in workshops on structural components.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that hold this qualification on their scope. Registering your interest allows us to notify you the moment a pathway is finalised.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering helps us gauge demand for specific aviation qualifications. This allows us to prioritise our RTO partnerships and advocate for a recognition process that respects your existing technical expertise.
Is RPL the same as completing an apprenticeship?
RPL is a different pathway to the same national qualification. While an apprenticeship involves learning the trade, RPL recognises the expertise you have already gained through years of practical work in the aviation industry.
Can I use my Australian Defence Force experience?
Yes. The MEA training package is designed to support both civil and defence aviation. Your service records, task books, and trade training can be used as primary evidence of your structural maintenance capabilities.
What happens if I lack experience in composite structures?
If an assessor identifies a gap in your evidence; such as limited experience with composites or wooden structures; targeted gap training can be provided. This ensures you meet the full requirements of the qualification without repeating what you already know.
