About This Qualification
This qualification is for those engaged in waste management who undertake waste collection and processing across a range of government and private sectors involved in municipal, solid, commercial, industrial, construction and demolition waste management. Job roles and titles vary across the waste management industry and fall within two key areas of activity: collection: waste collection and transferprocessing: waste treatment, disposal, remediation and resource recovery.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to offer the Certificate III in Waste Management. While not yet active, registering your interest allows us to notify you as soon as the pathway is available.

Registering your interest helps us demonstrate demand to our RTO partners, which can accelerate the availability of this qualification. It also ensures you are the first to know when we can begin guiding you through the evidence collection process.
Is RPL the same as completing a standard course?
The outcome is identical. Whether you achieve the qualification through study or RPL, you receive the same nationally recognised certificate. The difference lies in the process: RPL recognises the skills you have already mastered on the job through evidence assessment rather than classroom learning.
Does this qualification cover hazardous waste management?
Yes, the core units specifically address identifying and responding to hazards and emergencies within a waste management context, ensuring you can safely manage various waste types and environmental risks.
What if my experience is specifically in organic waste or composting?
The Certificate III in Waste Management is designed to cover a broad range of sectors. If your expertise is in composting, your evidence would focus on the receipt, sorting, and processing of organic materials, which aligns with the elective streams of this qualification.
