Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for the Certificate III in Travel be available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in this qualification. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when the pathway is open for assessment.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to gauge industry demand and prioritise which RTO partnerships we finalise first. It also ensures you receive early access to our free skills review once the qualification is active on our platform.
Is the RPL process the same as studying the course?
No. While the qualification outcome is identical, RPL focuses on recognising the skills you have already developed through your work in travel. It is an assessment of existing competency rather than a requirement to learn new material.
What if my experience is primarily in domestic travel?
The Certificate III in Travel requires evidence of both Australian and international destination knowledge. If the assessor identifies gaps in your international travel experience, targeted gap training may be provided to ensure you meet the national standard.
Do I need to be currently working in a travel agency?
While current employment is helpful for gathering recent evidence, we can also look at your past experience in retail, wholesale, or corporate travel environments to build your portfolio.
How do I prove my skills with reservation systems?
Evidence often includes screenshots of your work within Global Distribution Systems (GDS) or other computerised reservation platforms, showing your ability to book and process tourism products.
