About This Qualification
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for a range of skilled job roles in permaculture, including permaculture system operators, who work independently and/or in teams to establish and maintain permaculture systems for private clients, organisations or community entities. Permaculture system operators require a wide range of knowledge about bioregion/s and individual properties, specific permaculture projects or programs, wide ranging permaculture and sustainability information, and the ability to research additional information.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. The qualification issued by the RTO is nationally recognised and identical to one earned through traditional study. The difference is the evidence used for assessment; your lived experience is the proof of your competency.
Does this qualification grant me a licence for chemical application?
Not automatically. While some units within the qualification cover the safe use of chemicals, specific state-based licences or certifications are often required to operate professionally. We recommend checking with your local regulatory body.
What if my permaculture experience was gained on my own property?
Private experience is valid, provided it can be documented to the standard required by an assessor. This might include detailed design plans, soil records, and photographic evidence of the system's establishment and ongoing maintenance.
