About This Qualification
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for ground-based tree workers in the arboriculture industry. Individuals with this qualification perform a range of ground-based arboriculture activities under supervision including, pruning of trees, felling of small trees, operation of chainsaws, and the operation of equipment required for processing and removal of tree material.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Registering allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also ensures you receive early access to a free skills review once the qualification is available for assessment.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one earned through full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and carries the same national weight as one earned through a traditional classroom or apprenticeship pathway.
Do I need to be currently working in arboriculture to apply?
RPL is based on your total experience. While current employment is beneficial for providing recent evidence, the assessment considers your entire work history and the skills you have developed over time.
How does this qualification relate to tree removal licences?
This qualification demonstrates your technical competency in arboriculture tasks. However, many states and councils require specific permits or additional high-risk work licences for certain types of tree felling or vegetation management near power lines.
