About This Qualification
This qualification applies to employees in aviation maintenance workshops who perform repair and overhaul tasks on a limited range of aircraft electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic components or who perform simple repairs on a limited range of structural components.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in Aeroskills. While not yet available for immediate enrolment, we are actively building the framework for this pathway.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering ensures you are the first to know when a suitable RTO partner is secured. It also helps us understand the demand for this specific qualification, which can accelerate the partnership process.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. Both are issued by a Registered Training Organisation and meet the same national standards.
Can I use my experience from the Australian Defence Force?
Experience gained within DASA-regulated environments is highly relevant. Your service records and technical logs can be powerful evidence to demonstrate your competency against the MEA training package units.
Will this qualification allow me to sign off on aircraft maintenance?
At the Certificate II level, you are generally working under supervision. To certify maintenance, you typically require higher-level qualifications and a specific licence issued by CASA or DASA.
How do I demonstrate my hand skills for aviation?
Evidence can include supervisor reports, photos of your work, and records of tasks completed in a workshop. The assessor may also require a practical demonstration or a technical interview to verify your skills.
