About This Qualification

This qualification reflects the role of individuals involved in leadership or senior roles in the public sector. There may be supervisory responsibilities or delivery of outcomes without supervisory responsibilities. The qualification is targeted at those who enter the public sector with another qualification as well as those progressing within the sector. The qualification, without specialisation, is suited to those working in environments such as small or regionally based organisations, and where responsibilities are diverse in nature, rather than within a narrow specialisation. The specialisation streams of workplace inspection, investigations and fraud control, reflect the skills required to work in more specialist public sector roles. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for the Advanced Diploma of Government be available?
We are currently in the discovery phase for this qualification, establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) who specialise in public sector assessment. By registering your interest, you will be notified as soon as we have a confirmed pathway for recognition.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering interest allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also ensures you receive early access to a free skills review once the qualification is active on our platform.
Is RPL the same as completing a government training course?
RPL is an assessment-only pathway. Instead of attending classes to learn new material, you provide evidence that you already possess the competencies required by the national standard. It is a process of recognition for what you have already achieved in your career.
What if my government experience is in a regional or generalist role?
This qualification is specifically designed to suit those in diverse environments, such as regional councils or generalist agencies, where responsibilities are broad rather than narrowly specialised.
Can I seek recognition for specialist streams like Investigations or Fraud Control?
Yes, if your evidence demonstrates specific expertise in workplace inspection, investigations, or fraud control, we can guide you toward an RTO partner that offers these specialist streams within the Advanced Diploma.
