Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?
We are currently in the discovery phase, establishing partnerships with RTOs that have the specific scope and expertise to assess this graduate-level policing qualification. This ensures your experience is evaluated with the necessary rigour.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering interest allows us to gauge the demand for this specific pathway. It also ensures you are the first to be notified as soon as an RTO partner is secured and the evidence portfolio requirements are finalised.
Is RPL the same as completing the course through study?
RPL is a different pathway to the same outcome. It assesses your existing expertise against the national standards. The resulting qualification is identical to one earned through traditional study, as it acknowledges you have already mastered the competencies.
What are the entry requirements for this Graduate Certificate?
Entry is specifically for police personnel who hold a Diploma of Policing (or equivalent) or a policing degree, along with at least one year of full-time experience in a specialist field demonstrating capability for graduate-level work.
Does this qualification allow me to practice law outside of the police force?
This is a specialised policing qualification designed for prosecution within a police environment. While it demonstrates significant legal expertise, it is not a substitute for a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) required for admission as a solicitor or barrister.
