Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

What Kind of Experience Counts?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is RPL for the Diploma of Crash Analysis currently available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations that deliver the POL50325 qualification. While not yet open for enrolment, we are actively preparing the pathway for experienced police employees.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to notify you the moment a partner RTO is ready to begin assessments. It also helps us prioritise which qualifications to bring online first based on industry demand.
Is RPL the same as completing a police academy course?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning is an assessment-only pathway that acknowledges the skills you have already developed on the job. It treats your experience as evidence of competency rather than requiring you to undergo new training.
What kind of experience is required for this Diploma?
Assessors typically look for significant experience in road crash environments where you have applied technical analysis to incidents involving heavy vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
How do I demonstrate my skills for RPL?
You will compile an evidence portfolio containing real-world examples of your work, such as crash reconstructions, scale diagrams, and expert witness statements, which a qualified RTO assessor will then review.
Will I need to attend a campus for assessment?
The RPL process is primarily desktop-based, focusing on the review of your documented evidence. If an assessor identifies gaps, they may request a professional conversation or a practical demonstration, but traditional classroom attendance is generally not required.
